2020 Collaborations
Kaisipan. Your Digital Literacy Gateway
Maria Beebe, along with colleagues who are educators in the Philippines and the US, launched Kaisipan in June 2020. Its mission is digital literacy for all educators in the Philippines in order to transform learning and teaching towards humanizing education.
We define digital literacy as a set of cognitive, technical, and humanizing capabilities ta use information and communication technologies (ICTs) to learn, create, and share.
2020 Events
Where in the world did Mark go?
June 19: Mark traveled to South Korea as part of Future Directions in Business tour sponsored through a partnership with Loyola Marymount University and Florida International University. Our home base was Sung Kyun Kwan University and included visits to the Embassy, DMZ, and lots of tasty food.
Sept 19-May 20: Happy times with students at WSU Everett ranging from Dim Sum to gala dinners at WSU’s Burtenshaw lecture. Culminated with a virtual commencement after completing the academic year online in quarantine. We hosted visiting scholars from South Korea and Nanjing, China this past academic year.
February 20: Quick visit to Portland to catch up with James and Maria (meeting up with John for a nice dinner). Mark taught a Leadership Development MBA course at Al Yamamah University in Riyadh, KSA. As a fascinating visit and wonderful students. Returned just prior to lockdown!
March –June 20: Mark and Chan both working from home (and still speaking with each other). Chan’s work with the BRIDGES Center at Everett CC continues to be fulfilling while navigating online ELL delivery.
